Just last week
I was walking down the street
When the earth kinda shifted beneath my feet
I had a bit of bad luck that day
Because a building fell on my head
But it was no big deal
I was trapped but I had air to breathe
Firemen dug me out
And they helped me dust off my sleeves
Phone rings, Mama says
"Why do you live there?
Come home back east
Baby you're gonna die young"
I said, "Mama I like it here
You know we get lost of sun."
Just the other day
The big rains came our way
A mudslide took my home away
I had a bit of bad luck that day
Because at the time I was lying in my bed
But it was no big deal
Matter of fact I enjoyed the ride
Firemen dug me out
I washed my pajamas with Heavy-Duty Tide

"Why do you live there?
Come home back east

I said, "Mama, the storm is gone
There's not a cloud in the sky"
Two days ago
I pulled out of a Texaco
Noticed that the traffic was moving kinda slow
I had a bit of bad luck that day
Because an angry mob came marching my way
But it was no big deal
Just some broken glass, a few kicks in the head
Paramedics took me away
I had a week's vacation in a hospital bed
Mama by the bedside
"Why do you live here?
Come home back east
