In the year 2020
'Twas a time of good and plenty
Fine food on the tables
Downtown streets paved with gold
The Dow hit twenty-thou
Did someone say twenty-five?
We were all having the time
Of our lives
And then the s*** came down
Yeah, it fell by the bucketful
The s*** came down
Like some biblical plague
The s*** came down
And it just kept comin' down
Time will tell but I don't think
The smell will ever go away
I was packin' the kids' lunches
When I heard the beating on the roof
The power died, I looked outside
An ambulance screamed
I told the kids
To duck and cover under the table
I went to shut the window
It smelled like a stable
When the s*** came down
It fell by the bucketfull
The s*** came down
Like some biblical plague
The s*** came down
And it just kept comin' down
Time will tell but I don't think
The smell will ever go away
We gathered up our batteries
Canned food and bottled water
Got the radio working
but no stations came in
Charlie caught a fever
And Claire, our youngest daughter
Couldn't keep her food down
We were running out of water
As the s*** came down
Oh, it just kept comin' down
The s*** came down
Straight down from the sky
The s*** came down
It was pilin' higher on the ground
I felt for sure my family and I
were gonna die
On the seventh day
The panic turned to quiet
Standing by the window
Sue took my hand
We watched it covering all the rooftops
Coatin' all the treetops
Blanketing the ground like snow
only brown
First break in the storm
Sue grabbed the shovels from the basement
'Twas a time of good and plenty
Fine food on the tables
Downtown streets paved with gold
The Dow hit twenty-thou
