The bright sky reaches across the north
fogging the woods with its cold rain
it conceals the stars and sets the sea on fire
shakes even the mountains with its thunder
making the day stand still, raging at night
for long the clouds have traveled
restlessly swelling above the waters
if the welkin's flame now melts the frost
we just drift with the stream
those white fields blind the night
silent giants of ice and stone
the wind shall shatter the cold fair land
and the eternal stream fall as snow
none ever living on these plains
the ice cold wind bends the fair land to its will
far away wind driving the clouds
carving mournful verses on rock
the sky leads the weary traveller astray
struck down by the white emptiness
thus curse the giants of stone and of ice
none shall pass here!
even if the trees were burnt to ashes
even if the shore would be buried under the waves
no human can own this land!
