I remember the day it come
Washed everything in a humbling blue
Highways and prairies the same
Drowned in the flood like the prayers that we knew
And I lost all track of my time
In some other current much faster than mine
Took down the trees by the river
Like advice that would never be given
Laid down with my eyes closed
Let all the air out of my nose
Let all my dirt melt to glorious mud
And smiled for a while 6 feet under the flood
I couldn't find my boots
The water was knee high
So I laid in my bed
And stared out the window at the dry sky
I woke up underneath
All that was humbled in blue
Realized I was more
More comfortable than my mother still
I laid back down with my eyes closed
Let all the air out of my nose
Let all my dirt melt to glorious mud
And smiled for a while 6 feet under the flood
Washed everything in a humbling blue
Highways and prairies the same
Drowned in the flood like the prayers that we knew
And I lost all track of my time
In some other current much faster than mine
Took down the trees by the river
Like advice that would never be given
Laid down with my eyes closed
Let all the air out of my nose
Let all my dirt melt to glorious mud
And smiled for a while 6 feet under the flood
I couldn't find my boots
The water was knee high
So I laid in my bed
And stared out the window at the dry sky
